As one of the first Southern California golf courses to desegregate and a historic hub for Black golfers, Chester Washington Golf Course has played a significant role in the history of golf and racial equity. The course was a frequent stop for prominent Black athletes and celebrities alike, as well as some of the first Black golfers to hold PGA Tour Cards and compete in The Masters Tournament. In February of 2021, I spent a few days photographing some of the Black golfers who still frequent Chester Washington GC and speaking to them about the importance of the course.
